Happy Fourth Everyone

Goody Two Shoes 'n me started our Fourth of July out yesterday by going to a free concert on the downtown mall. The main attraction was a local band, Queen City Funk & Soul. And they are very good. They sang songs by Earth Wind and Fire, Kool and the Gang, the Blues Brothers, the Bar-Kays, Steely Dan, Tower of Power, and Aretha. Here are some snaps from the evening.

A small portion of the crowd that came out last night.

Goody Two Shoes (in the back) and my little sister, a.k.a 'the Runt' in the foreground.

Today was kind of a ho-hum day. Caught the scenic railroad up above Mt. Savage. I was surprised to find they were actually running. Usually they don't run on holidays.

Photographed a dragon fly.

Went to the car show at the fairgrounds. Didn't stay all that long.

Doin' Things My Way

I love to go cycling. And I know I'm supposed to wear a helmet. Problem I don't like the looks of most bike helmets. What to do? The answer is easy...make my own. But what to come up with that is practical, functional, and expresses my personality. It's easier than you think.

Start with a basic black skateboarding helmet. Okay, so it has the manufacturers logo smeared all over it. No problem...

A couple of coats of gloss black paint and those logos are long gone.

Add a little striping, some numbers, and a new logo, and new my bike helmet is ready for the trail.

My new helmet got broke in yesterday. Rode from Ohiopyle to Confluence and back. Yeah, I got more than just a few looks.

Steelers Black n' Gold...live it, love it, breathe it, bleed it.

Summer's Here

Nothing says summer's here like a carnival. Tonight was the last night for our carnival. Goody Two Shoes 'n me went down around closing time to take a few photos without too much of a crowd around. When I was young...much younger I'd ridden that Ferris wheel all night. Today I stand back and wave up at everyone as they go by.
